Reading the Povidone-Iodine Meta-analysis

This article explains how to read the meta-analysis for povidone-iodine. I separated it from the main article for brevity.

Here is how to interpret the tables starting from the left.

  1. The tables list the authors on the left side.
  2. The numbers next to the authors show the improvement. Green is positive.
  3. The relative risk or RR is the statistical analysis.
  4. Endpoints or outcomes of the study. What should improve after using PI? Death, viral load, prevention of hospitalization.
  5. Treatment and Control columns show the number of study participants as the denominator. The numerators indicate the number who had positive or negative outcomes.
  6. The columns with squares and diamonds depict the study size and outcomes. The size of the squares and diamonds reflect the study size. The bigger, the better. If the shapes are on the left, it means the use of PI is favorable. If the figures are on the left, then PI did not work. In all of the tables below, PI always showed positive outcomes.
