Dr. Paul Marik is an endowed Professor of Medicine and Chief of the Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Division at Eastern Virginia Medical School. He is a founding member and Co-Chief Medical Officer of the Front Line COVID-19 Critical Care Alliance, FLCCC.
Dr. Marik and his core group formulated and used the MATH+ Hospital Treatment Protocol for COVID-19.
Sentara Healthcare operates sixteen hospitals, including Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where Dr. Marik treats his patients. On October 06, 2021, Sentara’s Chief Quality and Safety Officer emailed all physicians working at Sentara.
The email pertains to the hospital systems’ COVID-19 Comprehensive Treatment Guidelines. The email contains a “do not endorse” section that includes Ivermectin, fluvoxamine, dutasteride, finasteride, and Vitamin C. These medications are part of the FLCCC protocols. Their use has led to a 50% reduction in deaths in the ICU.
What happened next was a sharp rise in deaths among COVID-19 patients.
Dr. Marik can no longer stand by while patients needlessly die without proper treatment. On November 9, 2021, Dr. Marik and his colleagues filed a Complaint in the Circuit Court of Norfolk, Virginia. The Complaint states that,
Sentara Healthcare is “preventing terminally ill COVID patients from exercising their right to choose and to receive safe, potentially life-saving treatment determined to be appropriate for them by their attending physician.”
In a press release, the FLCCC said,
Under Virginia law, every patient has the right to receive
treatment deemed appropriate for them by their attending physician, and terminally ill patients have the right to try investigational medicines that their treating physician recommends.Through its arbitrary prohibition of the COVID-19 treatment protocol developed by Dr. Marik and his colleagues, Sentara is violating the law and unjustly depriving critically ill patients of lifesaving treatment.
In the same press release, Dr. Marik stated,
“This case is about doctors, having the ability to honor their Hippocratic Oath, to follow evidence-based medicine, and to treat our patients the best we know how.
Corporations and faceless bureaucrats should not be allowed to interfere with doctor-patient decisions, especially when it can result in harm or death.”
“I refuse to watch another patient die from COVID-19 knowing that I was not allowed to give them proven treatments that could have saved their life.”
A renowned critical care specialist and FLCCCmember, Dr. Joseph Varon, recently recognized by the United Nations for his life-saving work, said this about the COVID-19 treatment protocol.
The “MATH+ Protocol,” has achieved at least a 50% reduction in deaths from the virus in the hospitals where he serves as
Chief of Staff.
Dr. Pierre Kory, president, and chief medical officer of the Front Line COVID-19 Critical Care Alliance (FLCCC), stated,
“The Sentara Healthcare System’s prohibition of the MATH+ protocol is a threat to every doctor and every patient in the U.S.”
“We know the protocol is effective.
Patients who could have been saved by MATH+ are dying because of the hospital’s baseless restriction.
We will continue to see more deaths that could have been prevented until the court takes action and orders the hospital to reverse course.”
The Sentara email said they do not endorse Ivermectin, fluvoxamine, dutasteride, finasteride, and Vitamin C because they “may cause harm and the efficacy and safety are not supported by peer-reviewed, published randomized controlled trials.”
That is not true.
The website, c19ivermectin, lists the 31 randomized controlled trials about Ivermectin, including a 57% improvement in 27 mortality results.
c19fluvoxamine.com list two studies that showed 40% improvement in COVID-19 mortality results. One is by Reis et al. that was published in The Lancet Global Health.
The other is by et al., Safety and efficacy of fluvoxamine in COVID-19 ICU patients: an open-label, prospective cohort trial with matched controls in the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology.
Dutasteride and finasteride are antiandrogens. c19early.com/aa lists six antiandrogen COVID-19 studies. A study by Bennani et al. from the Annals of Oncology showed a 95% improvement in mortality.
c19vitaminc.com has a meta-analysis of 17 studies on the use of Vitamin C for COVID-19 that showed a 20% improvement in mortality.
That should be more than enough evidence.
This lawsuit affects everybody.
The outcome of this lawsuit will set a legal precedent if faceless bureaucrats or the attending physicians will decide what drugs will be given to patients.
Neither side will budge, and eventually, I think this will go to the Supreme Court.
Dr. Pierre Kory, in his support for Dr. Malik, said,
The FLCCC stands behind Paul 100%.
We take an oath as doctors to do no harm. I can’t think of a way of doing more harm to a patient than to not administer a treatment
that you know can help them.No doctor should be forced to watch their patient die knowing that
more could have been done to save them and that is exactly what Sentara is doing
