Is Ivermectin in the Bible?

I have found that the Bible has a lot of medical science in it. I have been wondering for some time now why Jesus had to use mud to heal the blind? What’s in the mud? Then I connected it to ivermectin.

River blindness is caused by the parasite Onchocerca Volvulus. Repeated bites by blackflies transmit O. Volvulus. The blackflies breed near fast-flowing streams and rivers, mostly near remote rural villages in the Middle East and South America.

River blindness has plagued man for centuries. In the bible, Jesus healed a blind man.

John Chapter 9: 1-7 from the New International Version

1As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. 2His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”

3“Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him. 4As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. 5While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

6 After saying this, he spit on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man’s eyes. 7 “Go,” he told him, “wash in the Pool of Siloam” (this word means “Sent”). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing.

Why did the Lord use mud? Is it a hint?

Ivermectin was discovered from the soil.

Satoshi Ōmura is a microbiologist and bioorganic chemist at Tokyo’s
Kitasato Institute. Satoshi developed screening methods to identify medicinally promising compounds from soil.

Ōmura’s team sent the soil samples to the Merck Research laboratories headed by a parasitology specialist William Campbell. His team tested the soil samples as potential treatments for parasitic worms.

One culture from a soil sample collected near a golf course in Kawana, about 80 miles southwest of Tokyo, was extraordinarily effective at ridding mice of worm infestations. Ōmura identified the new bacterium as Streptomyces avermitilis. It was later re-classified and ultimately christened Streptomyces avermectinius.

Merck scientists isolated the active compound from S. avermectinius and named it avermectin. They made more changes in the avermectin, which resulted in an anti-parasitic drug, Ivermectin, 25 times more potent than any drug on the market.

Campbell started a project to study to see if Ivermectin can be helpful for river blindness. The project turned out to be a success, and Merck announced in 1987 the company’s commitment to donate “as much as needed, for as long as needed,” to help eliminate river blindness.

The Nobel Prize for Physiology and Medicine in 2015 was awarded to Satoshi Ōmura and William Campbell for Ivermectin. The American Chemical Society said that the odds of the discovery of Ivermectin are “astronomical.” [1]

Since then, Ivermectin has been found to have antiviral and anticancer properties.

Ivermectin is also effective against other Parasites

Ivermectin is also used to combat other parasites in humans, such as

  1. Strongyloidiasis (which infects some 35 million each year)
  2. Scabies (which causes 300 million cases annually)
  3. Pediculosis, Gnathostomiasis
  4. Myiasis
  5. Leishmaniasis
  6. Ascaris
  7. Trichuris
  8. Filariasis
  9. Hookworm

Ivermectin is also an effective Antiviral in both RNA and DNA viruses [2]

Anticancer Activity of Ivermectin

Ivermectin has shown anticancer drug potential in the following. [4]

Cancers of the digestive tract

  1. Liver cancer
  2. Stomach
  3. Colorectal cancer.

Genitourinary tract cancer

  1. Kidney or renal cell carcinoma
  2. Docetaxel-resistant prostate cancer
  3. Ivermectin enhances the drug activity of the anti-androgen drug enzalutamide for prostate cancer.
  4. Cervical cancer
  5. Ovarian cancer,

Other cancers

  1. Tamoxifen-resistant breast cancer
  2. Leukemia
  3. Brain gliomas, including glioblastoma, the most dangerous glioma
  4. Nasopharyngeal cancer
  5. Lung cancer
  6. Melanoma. [3]

Ivermectin is on the WHO model list of essential medicines – 22nd list, 2021. Ivermectin has been on the WHO Essential Medicine list since 2002.

Can Jesus Christ make the blind see without mud?

In Mark’s gospel today, October 24, 2021, Jesus healed Bartimaeus without soil.

46 Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus (“son of Timaeus”), was sitting by the roadside begging. 47 When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”

48 Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”

49 Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.”

So they called to the blind man, “Cheer up! On your feet! He’s calling you.” 50 Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus.

51 “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him.

The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.”

52 “Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.

Concluding thoughts

Global suppression of COVID-19 treatment pushed many doctors to look for effective repurposed medicines like Ivermectin. Widespread recognition of Ivermectin and its uses is one silver lining to this pandemic. Many people are now aware there is an inexpensive treatment for viral infections and possibly cancers.

The lies of government health agencies, pharmaceutical companies, and mainstream media are exposed daily. A major casualty in this pandemic will be the general public’s trust towards the CDC, FDA, and NIH. Oh yes, that includes a lot of physicians too.

The word Ivermectin is not in the bible. I always wondered what was in the mud that made the blind man see again. Often the Lord does not reveal the meaning of His miracles.

Maybe it’s because Jesus wants our faith and science to fill in the blanks.
