Rising Monkeypox Cases: What You Need to Know

Rising Monkeypox Cases: What You Need To Know

The explosion of monkeypox cases in Europe, the US, and Australia is worrying.

It is not natural. There’s no point source. Many cases are being diagnosed within days of each other in countries outside Africa where monkeypox is endemic. Furthermore, the affected countries are separated by borders and oceans.

There is no report that the diagnosed cases were together at one time to explain a single source.

This leads me to believe that the monkeypox virus is spread at the same time in different countries. It’s probably not airborne since there are places with only one case, but that does not entirely exclude airborne spread.

I guess that there is an entity spreading the disease through surface contamination. For what reason, I don’t know. Is it to curtail more rights or for mandatory vaccinations? We will know soon—the WHO is having an emergency meeting today.

I plan to be aware of what I touch and continue to practice hand hygiene. I will also be wary of enclosed spaces where the airborne spread is more effective.

I don’t want to get monkeypox, and neither do you.

I published this article a few minutes ago. Then I came upon this tabletop exercise about a monkeypox pandemic. It was held in March 2021. I will write an essay about it shortly.
