The OpenVAERS – website for COVID-19 vaccine adverse reactions

This page was updated on Jan. 8, 2022

The Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System is the most common way to file adverse reactions, including deaths after vaccination. The public can also access the data in the VAERS system. Either way, entering and reading the data has a steep learning curve.

If you go to the VAERS Data Sets web page, you will see.

A staggering amount of data for 2021, and the only difference this year is the COVID-19 vaccines.

The reported VAERS Data column has a total of 172.13MB for 2021. The 2021 data is the equivalent of the total vaccine adverse reactions from  pre-2000 to 2020.

If you want to read the contents of the VAERS, you have to right-click and download the zip file, open it with a spreadsheet. It would be helpful if your computer monitor were extended by another monitor so that you could read it. As of today, there are 1,995,616 adverse reactions reported to VAERS. I downloaded the data today, opened it in a spreadsheet and a screenshot is provided to show how many have been reported.

The Open VAERS

Who is behind Open VAERS? This can be found in their FAQ.

OpenVAERS is a project developed by a small team of people with vaccine injuries or have children with vaccine injuries. We do not accept donations or solicit fees. There is zero monetization of this site. It is purely created in order to help others browse the VAERS records and to identify the reported signals that may otherwise get missed.

Why is OpenVAERS necessary?

We built openVAERS because we found the HHS site difficult to navigate and get information from. We wanted a way to browse reports. Once we had that we decided to make it public.

Is your Data precisely the same as HHS Data? Do you edit or correct it?

We do not change, modify or vet data. We take the downloads, upload them to our server and put a different face on them so they are easier to browse and get quick accurate info from. There are mistakes in the data (impossible dates are usually the most obvious), clearly, but we leave it as we get it.

Now that we passed the introduction, if you click here on the COVID Vaccine Data, you get 21, 382 deaths reported globally and 113,303 hospitalizations. For the US, 9,778 deaths and 46,755 were hospitalized.

Some conditions like miscarriages, heart attacks, life-threatening and severe allergic reactions are self-explanatory in why they are serious.

Developing shingles is a sign of a dysfunction of the innate immune response that is supposed to keep the chickenpox virus checked. The innate immune response is the first line of defense against any infection.

Myocarditis (inflammation of the heart muscle) can have long-term sequelae. If the inflamed heart’s ejection fraction (pumping ability) does not return to normal pumping action, congestive heart failure, limitation of movement, and easy fatigability can happen.

If the ejection fraction stays below 20-25%, the heart will beat sluggishly such that an escape rhythm called ventricular fibrillation (VF) or ventricular tachycardia (VT) can happen. VT and VF can cause cardiac arrest and can happen to all ages.

That is why an Automatic Implantable Defibrillator (AICD) is recommended. When the AICD fires, the patient describes it as “being kicked by a horse.”

Having chronic myocarditis puts you at risk of developing blood clots inside the heart, which necessitates the use of blood thinners forever.

Pericarditis (inflammation of the sac covering the heart) can be corrected if diagnosed early. The most serious consequence is if inflammatory fluid develops within the sac surrounding the heart. This causes a condition called cardiac tamponade and can cause death.

Lastly, thrombocytopenia or low platelets can cause bleeding. This may be in the intestinal tract. People who take blood thinners like aspirin, Eliquis, Xarelto, and Couamad are already at risk for bleeding but more so if their platelets are low. Intracranial hemorrhage can also happen with low platelets.

Bottom line, vaccine complications are not mere words and should never be dismissed as “rare.” They have financial, social, and lifelong consequences.

Life choices are about balancing risks and benefits. I hope this article will factor in your decision making.
