TMZ broke the news yesterday that Lisa Marie Presley, the daughter of Elvis Presley, had a cardiac arrest. Almost three hours later, TMZ reported that she passed away at age 54.
Lisa Marie had a cardiac arrest at home on Jan. 12, 2023.
TMZ broke the story … Lisa Marie was in full cardiac arrest Thursday morning, before paramedics arrived.
We’re told her housekeeper found Lisa Marie unresponsive in her bedroom, and just as the housekeeper made that discovery her ex-husband, Danny Keough — with whom Lisa Marie lives — returned home from taking their kids to school.
He administered CPR until paramedics took over.
Lisa Marie had complained early Thursday morning of stomach pains, that got more and more intense. The sources wanted to make clear … this was NOT a suicide attempt.
Paramedics continued the CPR and gave her at least one epinephrine shot, and her pulse was restored.
She was then rushed to a nearby hospital where she was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit and was put on life support with a temporary pacemaker after suffering cardiac arrest … sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ.
So what happened?
The American College of Cardiology, the American Heart Association, the Heart Rhythm Society, and the European Society of Cardiology has established the indications for a temporary pacemaker.
The most common indications for a temporary pacemaker are sinus node dysfunctions (SND) and high-grade atrioventricular (AV) block.
In SND and AV block, the electrical stimuli to the heart muscles are disorganized or too slow, so the heart cannot pump enough blood.
Sinus node dysfunction does not usually present as a cardiac arrest. Instead, the clinical course is slower and presents as dizziness and episodes of loss of consciousness due to the slow heart rate.
I think it is the AV block, also called complete heart block in Lisa Marie’s case.
What caused the complete heart block?
Lisa Marie could have had a heart attack earlier in the day. The clue is her severe abdominal pain earlier in the day.
The abdominal pain could be from a myocardial infarction at the bottom of the heart, also known as inferior wall myocardial ischemia (IWMI)
Inferior wall MI can affect the part of the heart where electrical conduction from the sinoatrial node (SA) goes to the atrioventricular node (AV). That is why they are prone to arrhythmias.
Complete heart block, ventricular tachycardia (VT), and ventricular fibrillation (VF) are fatal arrhythmias if not treated right away. Any of the three could be present because the first responders gave her epinephrine.
The Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Protocol advises using epinephrine in all three scenarios.
Once Lisa Marie was in the hospital, they put a temporary pacemaker in her. Pacemakers are not indicated for VT and VF, only for severe heart blocks.
Broken Heart Syndrome
Sportskeeda.com say that Lisa Marie could have had broken heart syndrome, a clinically known condition. It is also known as Takotsubo cardiomyopathy.
A broken heart syndrome can be from severe emotional distress. Lisa Marie’s only son Benjamin committed suicide in July 2020.
Broken heart syndrome can lead to a poorly pumping heart. Lisa Marie was recently noted to be frail and unsteady in the Golden Globes.
COVID injection
This article is written for public health education. I don’t know if Lisa Marie had the jab. I have not seen convincing evidence that it is so. But since she is from Hollywood,
Complete heart block, heart attacks, and Takotsubo cardiomyopathy can happen after the COVID shot.
Complete Heart Block after the Pfizer COVID shot.
The COVID injection can increase a person’s risk of a heart attack by introducing risk factors.
- Higher blood pressure after COVID shots and why it happens
- mRNA vaccination increases the risk of acute coronary syndrome
And there are several reported cases of Takotsubo cardiomyopathy after the gene therapy injections in the National Library of Medicine.

- Novel case of Takotsubo cardiomyopathy following COVID-19 vaccination

Perhaps we will never know. Lisa Marie will need prayers so that she will attain the beatific vision.
